Currently, we are providing support for whānau with Oranga Tamariki involvement. This is a vital resource aimed at nurturing the well-being and stability of whānau involved. We work alongside Oranga Tamariki so that tamariki can remain, where possible, safely at home with their whānau with the right supports put in place to ensure good outcomes for everyone.

This specialist support  recognises the complexities and challenges faced by whānau and works to provide the following:

  1. Culturally Responsive Care: Recognising the importance of cultural identity and heritage, social support services are delivered in a culturally sensitive manner, respecting the values, beliefs, and traditions of whānau.

  2. Strengthening Family Bonds: Social support initiatives focus on strengthening family bonds and promoting positive relationships within whānau, aiming to create nurturing and supportive environments for children and caregivers alike.

  3. Access to Services: Whānau are connected with a range of support services, including counselling to address their specific needs and challenges.

  4. Empowerment and Skill-Building: Social support programs empower whānau members by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to overcome obstacles, build resilience, and create brighter futures for themselves and their children.

  5. Collaborative Decision-Making: Whānau are actively involved in decision-making processes concerning the care and well-being of their children, ensuring that their voices are heard and respected throughout the journey.

  6. Holistic Approach: Social support for whānau within Oranga Tamariki takes a holistic approach, addressing not only immediate concerns but also underlying issues related to poverty, trauma, substance abuse, mental health, and family dynamics.
